Above photos are from a Visit to the FDNY Shops.

Q: What are "The Shops"?

A: Located in Long Island City queens, the Shops are the main FDNY Maintenance Facility. Rigs are brought here for routine maintenance as well as all repairs. There are also several lots throughout the city were spare rigs are kept. When a company's rig goes in to the shops for maintenance, they must transfer all their tools and hoses from their regular rig to the spare. ~Catry

As quoted by the Supv giving the Tour "When things break we fix them" and that they do. On show was Seagrave Engine, Ladders, Tillers, Ferrara Ladders & the Newest Additions the KME Engines

I would like to Thank the Supv & Staff for their time and showing us around

Squad 270 "Strictly Business" / the Chiefs of the 13th Division
Queens South

What is the job of a Squad company?

A Squad Company responds as either an Engine, Truck or Special unit.

They respond as engines to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd due boxes (with the exception of Squad 1), and as a special unit on All-Hands in their response area. Squad crews are also trained as HazMat techs and receive extensive SOC training. ~Catry
