** Breaking News 12:30am 21/04/2012 **
Firefighters are currently at the scene of a Fire in two retail premises on Main Street in Wicklow Town. Area around the scene is closed off and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A transatlantic flight made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport today after a passenger's mobile phone was found recharging in a toilet. The Delta Airlines flight, which was carrying over 200 passengers, made the landing after reports of a suspicious item on board. It was travelling from Istanbul to New York.
Upon roll out on landing on runway 10 the wheel brakes overheated and this situation was promptly, and efficiently attended to by the DAA fire service.

The Vevay Inn on the Vevay road in Bray has been destroyed in a overnight fire. Fire units from Bray, Greystones, Wicklow and a water tanker from Dublin attended the blaze. Such was the extent of the fire houses close to the premises had to be evacuated. There were no reports of any injuries. During the course of the fire the ladders on the fire units had to be taken down as the seaside town was hit by a mini tornado and freak storm.

On 17th March (St. Patricks Day) Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) recieved a report of a fire in a derelict building at the corner of Benburb Street and Queen Street.
Five units of the Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire and no-one was injured. An engineer from the Department of Dangerous Buildings within Dublin City Council has been sent to examine the building to see if it should be pulled down.

Two units of the fire service from Drogheda attended the scene of a house fire in the Beechgrove area of Drogheda on the 17/03/2012. Two occupants were removed from the house and taken by Ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

Drogheda Fire Service were called to a car fire where minutes earlier it had been used ia a robbery at a Tesco superstore. The car was abandoned and set alight in a housing estate in the town.

Businessman Bobby Kerr has said that Bang Cafe will reopen "with a bang" despite the extensive fire at the restaurant. The exclusive venue on Merrion Row in Dublin was hit by a fire yesterday, closing down part of the city centre street. But the owner and Dragons' Den star said that damage was minimal and praised the quick reaction of Dublin Fire Brigade.
"The fire was in the upper floor which is mainly in the staff changing room, toilets and laundry area," he told the Herald. "The fire brigade were there in a couple of minutes. "It looks like it was an electrical fault. Thankfully there were very few people in there at the time no customers everyone is fine." Eyewitnesses described how the entire street was engulfed with smoke within minutes.

This is the winding down of a fire on Tuesday 21/2/2012 where a trailer full of tyres was on fire and to make things that bit more interesting there was also a downed live electricity cable.
The photos show D131 finishing up but D51 and DO Foxtrot attended also. The ESB managed the cable and the Gardai closed off the road.

A Major Fire in New Ross, Co Wexford was brought under control after 6hrs Friday (20/01/2012). A number of apartments at an apartment block on the quay had caught fire and were in flames. Six units of the fire service are still at the scene.
