A fire broke out in the multi storey car park of the Blackpool Shopping Centre on Tuesday afternoon 1st May. Emergency services personnel at the scene told the Cork Independent that a car had caught fire on the second floor of the car park.

An Irish Coast Guard Helicopter (Rescue 115 from Shannon) has successfully winched a casualty from the MS Balmoral. The ship left Cobh, Co Cork, on the morning of (10th April) for its journey across the Atlantic, retracing the last journey of the Titanic.
A man in his 50s, who was part of a BBC film crew onboard, suffered a suspected heart attack. The vessel was 190km west of the Irish coastline when the helicopter crew winched the cameraman up at 7pm.
His condition is said to be stable and he was brought to hospital in Tralee, Co. Kerry for observation.

Cork's main railway terminal was closed for a time Friday evening (24/02/2012) following a gas leak, Irish Rail has said. Bus transfers were put in place to Mallow on the Cork-Dublin line while Cork-Midleton services were suspended, officials said.
Members of the public were evacuated from the station by emergency services at the scene of the incident. The Station reopened at 6.20pm and trains were operating on both Cork-Dublin and Cork-Midleton lines.

A massive blase at the Countrys biggest pallet manufacturer in Clondrohid near Macroom in Co Cork on the 18/12/2011. The fire at the 20,000 sq m plant caused huge damage. Units of the fire service from Macroom, Millstreet, Ballincollig, Kantuck and Kilarney and also Water Carriers from Bandon and Mallow were called to the scene at around 07.30. It took Firefighters a number of hours to bring the blase under control.

Units of the Cork County Fire and Rescue Service attended a Large hay barn fire near the village of Rathcormac in Co Cork on the 14/08/2011. Units attending Fermoy (CK25) Mitchelstown (CK26).

A two-seater plane crashed near Slievenamon in Co Tipperary on Monday 8th of Augest. The plane crashed in a field beside a wooded area near Slievenamon around 11.30am. Gardaí said the light aircraft came down at Ballyduggan, 2km from the village of Mullinahone.
It is understood there were two men, aged 46 and 48, on board and both were injured. Fire services, gardaí, ambulance crews and the search and rescue helicopter from Waterford Regional Airport responded.

At approx 4.30am firefighters in Ennis were alerted to a domestic fire in Ballymaley on the outskirts of the town. On Arrival they discovered a bungalow well alight with no persons unaccounted for. The blaze was brought under control rapidly with first aid reels and a CAFS line
