Fire Crews from Wexford County Fire Service attended a Gorse / Sand Dune Fire in Curracloe Beach on Sunday 22nd July. Fire Crews from Wexford asssisted by Irish Air Corps Helicopter Bambi Bucket Drops, National Ambulance Service and Gardai. Some 44,400 litres of water were dropped by the rish Air Corps.

County Armagh 10th July 2018

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Firefighters attending a Gorse Fire at Slieve Gullion Mountain, County Armagh. 4 appliances, Specialist Wildfire Resources and all-terrain vehicles are currently at the scene. 

Due to the deep-seated nature of the gorse fire at Slieve Gullion Mountain NIFRS requested assistance from the Air Rescue Co-ordination Centre. They have deployed 2 Irish Air Corps helicopters - 1 is involved in aerial firefighting and 1 is being used as an observation point. ~@NIFRSOFFICIAL Twitter



County Meath 9th July 2018

Meath Fire & Rescue Service seen in attendance in Frayne Bog outside Kildalkey dampening down fire breaks ensuring the fire won’t spread. They were working along with colleagues from Coillte and their helicopter to fight the Gorse and Forestry Fires in Frayne Bog. Seen is the Coillte helicopter using Meath Fire Service's water dam as a water source.

The dam close to the Fire in Frayne Bog allowed the helicopter to drop 400 liters of water every 90 seconds. This enabled 16,000 liters of water to go on the fire every hour. ~@MCCFireService Twitter

Fire Crews from Laois Fire & Rescue Service and Offaly Fire & Rescue Service spent a number of days battling Gorse Fire in the Slieve Blooms. Fire Crews were assisted with Helicopter Bambi Bucket Drops by Coillte and the Irish Aer Corps.

On Friday 6th July NIFRS dealt with a significant Gorse Fire at Ballintemple Road, Slieve Gullion Mountain in Newry, County Down. 6 appliances and specialist Wildfire Resources attended the scene tackling 2-3 acres of Gorse on fire. NIFRS alos worked alongside the Forest Service. 

Also on Friday NIFRS attended a deep seated Peat / Gorse Fire. 50 Firefighters tackled the the fire in the Drumack Road area of Rasharkin. ~NIFRS

County Cork 22nd / 23rd / 24th April 2017

Since Saturday morning last, Fire Brigades have responded 23 times to Gorse Fires all over West Cork. Some of the areas that were affected included: Gougane Barra, Borlin, Glengarriff, Allihies, and Durrus. Brigades stopped fires that were threatening several properties and forestry.

Also, in the middle of all these gorse fires over the last few days brigades also attended to 3 Chimney Fires and 1 Ambulance Assist. As we have said previously, these unnecessary and illegal fires take the brigades’ protection away from the population centres of West Cork. ~Cork County Fire & Rescue Service Facebook

During this Major Gorse Fire Waterford City the Waterford Animal Welfare where asked to check on the welfare of horses whose grazing was affected by the flames and smoke. All horses where fine and relocated by the owner
